Co-founder Fairphone
Tessa co-founded Fairphone and has served as the Director of Communications for the social enterprise since January 2013. Fairphone is working to disrupt the mobile phone market by focusing on transparency and social values. They are producing a smartphone to reveal the complexity behind electronics production and influence the industry to look more closely at its business practices.
After growing up in Hong Kong, Tessa spent much of her early career working in Asia. Prior to joining Fairphone, she held a number of international PR and marketing communications positions. In recent years, her primary focus has been promoting the creative sector in Amsterdam. Tessa earned a Master’s degree in English Literature and a minor in International Development Studies from the University of Amsterdam. Her degrees and experience support Tessa’s passion for storytelling and building communities that can influence social change. She lives in Amsterdam with her husband and three sons.
